Mary Kay Cabot @marykaycabot 2m2 minutes ago #Browns OC Kyle Shanahan has talked to Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and they are parting ways after only one season, source says Well there you have it.... The Jets definitely need to look into this...even as a possible head coach. I like the idea of Shanahan here.

Right on cue the fuckface doesn't approve, what a surprise...... Overwhelming feeling from front office executives I've spoken to about Mike Maccagnan: He's not ready to be a NFL GM. #nyj 3:21pm - 8 Jan 15.....Manesh Mehta. I fuckin hate this man That's coming from his sources...Papa Smurf, Smoochy, and Larry David.

Little off topic...but Philly Brown might be out for the game against Seattle and it looks like Rivera is going to call up Hill. It will be interesting to see if he has developed somewhat. They are going to need his speed because Benjamin and Cotchery are not fast and they are facing the #1 pass defense of the Seahawks.

I thought I heard on ESPN that Marrone's interview did not go well. Not so much the Marrone smearing that occurred before the interview about how he left the Bills, but that the Jets were underwhelmed with him compared to others they interviewed. Sorry for the speculation, but I don't have any more info than that. Anyone hear of any specifics? I'll be honest, that's why I started to get off the Marrone bandwagon a little bit. I didn't mind him leaving the Bills the way he did, but I was disappointed when I heard his interview did not go well. you also have to wonder, if woody is skittish about the perception of his hires now, or if he's more influenced by what someone who worked with marrone said about him. woody is finally getting some media points for admitting failure and hiring competent consultants to fix the ship, and i doubt he's willing to hire guys who get slammed even before they're hired. like it or not, the guys woody picks this time will be guys who are given the thumbs up by both the consultants and the media. Who the fuck cares about the media? As long as the Wolf/Casserly/Woody feel that they have their guys then I really don't care what Semen and ManAss think.

Rich Cimini @richcimini 30m30 minutes ago Mike Maccagnan has ties to 3 of Jets' HC candidates -- Todd Bowles, Gary Kubiak and Doug Marrone. #nyj I think this scenario is a possibility...Maccagnan gets hired as the GM on Friday, they wait to interview Kubiak and he becomes the head coach.

@jasonphilcole 11m11 minutes ago Source indicated if #Seahawks DC Dan Quinn gets HC job (#Jets strong chance), will try to hire Kyle Shanahan as OC, away from #Browns Yeah, I would love this.
What about Marrone and Shanahan?
With Schwartz as DC?
That would be interesting. Although I am souring on Marrone a bit. When your assistant coach throws you under the bus that's bad news.

Adam Schefter @adamschefter 2m2 minutes ago Jets bringing back Texans dir of college scouting Mike Maccagnan for 2nd GM interview, per league sources. 1st candidate for 2nd interview. Maccagnan and Quinn early next week sounds feasible.... Anyone know the rules as far as hiring personnel that's still in the playoffs? I think they can commit to the position but it wouldn't be official until they are out of the playoffs.

It's useless to even mention guys like Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas. Worse comes to worst, Dallas and Denver will slap the franchise tag on them. Jerry isn't letting Dez go anywhere and Denver isn't letting Thomas out the door when they only have another 1-2 year window to win a Superbowl. Especially when he already said that he'd give Denver a hometown discount. Now, if Cobb hits the market...I'd cut Percy's ass in a heartbeat and sign him. We will see but yeah I agree with you on Cobb.

In what way do you see him as uninspired? As a head coach? Because Norv Turner, Wade Phillips, Todd Haley, Jim Schwartz, Scott Linehan etc...they were all uninspiring head coaches but they are very good coordinators. I just think the HC and his coordinators should be 'of a kind' - like a set of people that go well together. 43-yr-old Quinn (and I know nothing about him really) plus Trestman - just gut-check, it doesn't feel like a natural fit to me. Looking over Trestman's resume - I can see the interest. His offenses have preformed and well for the most part. Last season was a bit scary - the Bears O was terrible and for no apparent reason. . . Cutler was the reason he was turning the ball over at an alarming pace...plus injuries to Jeffrey and Marshall.

Clearly Dez. They gave Murray 400 carries for a reason. He's gonna be Shaun Alexander next year. DAL will sign AP. Mark it down. Interesting. I think Murray is still going to be productive back for another 2 years. His tough running style is problem but he reminds me more of Marion Barber with more explosiveness. How are they going to sign AP?

Lets face it Dallas for 2015 has no cap space (they will be even) so there is no way Jerry Jones will be able to keep both unless he cuts some players that have significant roles. I think the running game is the reason for Dallas' resurgence this year so I think Murray is their top priority and he will come cheaper than Dez. Should Dez become a free agent I think the Jets can cut Harvin and go after him and offer some serious money. He is a game changer and with a decent QB he can make this offense viable. Another guy to look at is Demaryius Thomas since it looks like Peyton is starting to somewhat ordinary and might retire in another year or two. Either way I think it would be wise that the new GM that comes here upgrades the WR corps with one of these guys. Thoughts?

Yeah just saw he was officially signed. Time to move on. The jets have interviewed pretty strong talent evaluators, I think Macagnan, Mueller and Kirchner are just that. But the question is can they work the entire process as a GM? Yes we missed out on Mcloughlin, but lets face it, he is going to have to deal with a sticky situation in DC and he has a lot of personal demons as well.
