Success is being in every game. Not getting blown out and seeing effort on every down. I wanna see the passion of a young team but expect loses because of inexperience.
For one of the QBs to make us not think about drafting one, we gotta see 60 or above completion percentage. And just winning us games. It will be very noticeable. Average play won't do it.
I full expect Mac to be back. He'll get his chance at drafting his QB next year if Hack fails and then go from there.

Draft grades for the jets are all over the map. But Walter Football gave them an A. New York Jets: A Grade Goals Entering the 2017 NFL Draft: The Jets happen to be in the worst shape of any team in the NFL. Like the 49ers and Browns, they are devoid of talent almost everywhere. However, they lack the cap space to do anything about it outside of the draft. With so many holes on the roster, the Jets need to trade down early and often to acquire as many rosterable players as possible. 2017 NFL Draft Accomplishments: The Jets had to move down early and often, as suggested, and that's exactly what they managed to do. General manager Mike Maccagnan did a masterful job of wheeling and dealing throughout the weekend, acquiring resources on numerous occasions. This was absolutely imperative, as Daniel Jeremiah echoed what I wrote in the goal mock prior to the draft: The Jets, at least prior to the draft, had the worst roster in the NFL. Not only did the Jets move down many times, but they also picked up some talented players in the process. They began the weekend by selecting two talented safeties, and yes, they needed two. Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye will automatically improve one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. Meanwhle, three offensive weapons were added in ArDarius Stewart, Chad Hansen and Jordan Leggett. They were quality selections, especially Leggett, who was a steal in the fifth round. I'm sure some will consider this a failure of a draft for the Jets because they didn't acquire a quarterback. However, that was never the plan. Charlie Campbell reported back in January that quarterback was not in play for the Jets because they liked how Christian Hackenberg was progressing behind the scenes. And even if Hackenberg sucks, the 2018 NFL Draft is loaded with better quarterbacks - check out the 2018 NFL Mock Draft for more - so the Jets can just wait to acquire Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen or Josh Allen. The Jets had a terrific draft overall, as Maccagnan did what he could to upgrade the talent on the roster as many ways as possible. There's still a long way to go, but this was a nice start. walterfootball.com/nfldraftgradesteam.phpGrading drafts immediately after the fact may be fun but it is also useless. The proof will be determined in the long run. That said, I have read a load of post-draft reviews and almost all of them were very positive. And the ones that weren't generally mentioned that we didn't fill all of our needs. Shit... we didn't have 40 picks in the draft. This is basically a total rebuild. It also looks like it was a concerted effort to change the culture. Macc went out and got tough players with leadership qualities. Reading the Hampur during the draft would make you think the Jets had a horrible draft. And let's be honest here... nobody on this board is a draft expert. Some of the pre-draft man-crushes have been pathetically bad. And yes, I have been guilty of that many times too. The reality is that not all college players, even some of the best ones, translate well to the NFL. I loved OBJ a few years back and was pissed that we didn't get him. And that pick looks even better now. But had he come to a team as dysfunctional as the Jets, I could see him being considered a bust by now because he has some big time immaturity issues. Right player / wrong team plays into it big. If I could pick one thing to come out of this draft, I would hope that some of the players we drafted help to change the culture on the lockeroom. If that has begun, then I think it was successful. I personally went into this draft hoping the team would basically do exactly what they did. Not saying I wanted them to take the players that they chose but to try to draft BPA, fill the holes and not try to act like they could fix the shitload of problems this team has in one draft. For that reason alone, I think Macc did a good job. Now it's time to see if Bowles can man up and become a good coach and leader. I'm not sure he can do that but he has one year to prove it or he will be out the door. I would love to see this team at least play hard this year. Well said. I think Mac did a pretty damn good job this weekend. I would've liked him to trade Pryor and Richardson. Oh well. His first three picks are all alpha males, actual leadership. Not just quiet leaders who always answer questions after games. These guys can set the tone of a game. I think Mac is pretty safe right now. He's built up he back end of this roster pretty nicely and that's the way a rebuild goes. The pressure is now on Bowles to put these pieces together. And he should in no way let mccown play one game unless there's injuries. I'm excited to see where these young guys take us.

Our history of blowing second round picks is why we're never consistently good. You can't blow that many high picks and expect to compete. Was he injury prone in college? How's Mac supposed to predict the kid blowing his acl twice?

Macc just announced Devin Smith tore his ACL on first day of OTAs - out for the season. Some guys are just made of glass. Geesh. Was he this injury prone in college? Really sucks.

This board is going down in flames when the two rookies have a miscommunication and cause a TD.

We are going the D route, and hopefully drop a QB into that next year. We've been doing the D route for a decade now.....it's not working. Yeah but Mac hasn't been picking the whole decade. He's now building his own defense in place of the other failed picks. Well see. These two need to turn into one fucking dynamic duo.

The whole league is trading up and down every frigin year in the 1st round except for the jets who seemingly get no calls. I don't believe for a minute that we didn't have a legit chance to trade down even if it was not for text book value. It's going to be painful this time next year staring at some franchise QBs that are just out of reach with not enough ammo to go up and get. Mark my words. They might have gotten calls for just teams moving up a few spots adding maybe an extra pick in the later rounds. We have no idea. If they passed up a future first, then yes I'd be pissed. Especially if your plan is to go with Hack, you gotta have ammo for next year as back up. But I'd be baffled if Jets didn't have a top pick next year. That means Hack or mccown is winning games somehow.

No way we're taking Cook.
I'd say either CB.......then TE or OL will be it.

Still can't believe we're actually just rolling with Hack and mccown this year.

lets turn the page to tomorrow. Adams is a good player. Just no the direction i wanted to go in... So now that we've address teh secondary (somewhat).... what are we doing tomorrow? It's gotta be time for offense right? Mac has now invested DL, LB, and a S for defense round 1. Round two an injury prone WR and unknown QB. So the pattern should be in that direction.

We go 0-16 and we don't have to worry about no stinking trade ups. _ We always win Week 17. Unless we need to. It'll be Adams closing the game out with an int.
