I feel like Mayfield is going to fall. No one behind us is trading up for him so that really only leaves Denver as a likely suitor. And we may even end up ahead of Denver by this time next week. Eh. I don't think Mayfield will shoot up boards but I think he'll stick around the middle of the draft, 10-15 range. I think Denver either does a trade for Alex Smith or drafts Josh Allen.

Looks like the Giants are all in as far as sucking for Sam That would be the most frustrating thing to watch unfold if the Giants were in position to grab their next franchise QB like that, nice seamless transition, all while the Jets end up in the middle of the draft continuing their search.

Heard a black sports broadcaster/personality today say that the whole kneeling thing was ineffectual and stupid and then say that nothing will solve the "issue" until we have a real conversation, but that we will never have that real conversation because it will make white people uncomfortable. Serious question, anyone know what he's talking about? I have no idea. Kapernick took a knee because he wasn't going to show pride in a country that oppresses people of color. At least he had a purpose....doesn't do anything, but it was a better purpose then doing it now where players are doing it just to get back at Trump. And now it's turned into....I stand by you in hating Trump! These "protests" do nothing. If they want change, the least players could do is take action in some sort of way.

Well that looked like Bowles D against the Fins. Skrine and Adams with sacks, Cutler facing many 5+ man rushes. If the D plays like that for the rest of the season, Hack may be the starting QB next year. Seems about right.

Except jerry jones never said that. Can't say it's an exact quote, but I have a friend who works for the cowboys. Before this season started and the current shit storm hit, he told me during the preseason that on the orders of Jerry Jones no one was permitted to kneel. Also, I was thinking, if the owners are so supportive of players on this issue, why doesn't Colin Kapernick have a job? The owners are only supportive because they have to be now at this point. Once one let out a statement it was a chain reaction and social media was "waiting for the next one". Even the new Jets owner put one out but it was barely a statement at all. It was more of...here look I did it. Now shut up. Kap has no job because no one in their right mind wants that national attention on their time while they're trying to win ya know...actual football games.

As much as I want this team to tank and finally select our franchise QB. I just don't think it'll happen. I think it'll be close with the Jags. They'll beat the Browns. We're bound to win one other divisional game.
Sucks but unless Hackenberg for some reason starts playing games, then we're screwed. Probably will pick around 6 like we always do.

I spend some time at JetNation because our football discussions here seem to be fewer and fewer. It was exhausting. We might not agree on stuff here, but at least people are rational. Buncha crazy dicks doing a lot of posting over there. It gets rather repetitive over there with the slew of sarcastic jabs over and over by the same 4 people, no matter what the topic. But there is more traffic, so there's that.

I think most schemes are personnel driven.. But do you think Bowles is running it, or has it now become a Kacey Rogers D? I think it's been Bowles defense since he got here and Rodgers is basically the yes man. That's probably why he wasn't fired last year either. But Rodgers did take over playcalling late last season and Bowles said in the off season he would expect that to continue to start this year so he can focus on everything else. But I think at this point Rodgers knows what Bowles wants, they go over what the game plan is and all but its Rodgers calling the plays. So it's a Todd Bowles D with Rogers running it.

Should our Lbs really be going up the middle one on one with guards like that? Especially Lee...just seems like a set up for failure. The second play is clearly a bad play by Lee but the first just seems like a bad play call/design to me.

God forbid...then I would take a guy like Arden Key or the best available OT, suck ass again next year, and then draft Darnold/Rosen in 2019. LOL, this board would go apeshit if we drafted another defensive player. I almost want to see this happen, just for the lulz. I almost want no part of the defensive side. Even if the next Von Miller is there. That's what selecting for so many years has done to me. I would hope they can trade down get an extra 1st and still take the best OT.

Idk. I see a plan that is really coming together. After the failed shot taken to win with the vets and cap room Mac inherited, Mac has the team set to finally land a franchise QB and have a young team with a ton of cap room. Everyone wants to get rid of Mac because the team will be teed up for success next season. But, who put them in that position? I don't see it as a plan that is coming together -- I see a team that is completely devoid of talent at any key positions as the result of a plan that has failed. Macc's whole idea of a competitive rebuild -- bring in veterans who can compete while restocking the roster through the draft with young guys who can step in for those veterans as they decline. Well, we had a nice run but fell short in 2015, the veterans have declined and moved on, but there is little young talent on the roster to replace them. The plan failed and left them in a position where the only logical approach is to clean house and start over. Macc has torn it down, but is he the right guy to build it back up. Personally, as of now, I don't think so, but I am willing to wait out this season and re-evaluate Macc when the season ends. The OL has been better than expected -- I thought Beachum and Shell held up pretty well against Mack and Irvin and the OL in general opened up holes in the running game this week. That is a positive, as was the play of the two rookie safeties. I might feel differently about Macc if the OL comes together during the season, if one or two of the young WRs (Anderson, Peake, Stewart, Marhsall, Hansen) step up and prove to be legitimate weapons that would be solid 2s or 3s, if we find an edge rusher, if Claiborne proves to be a solid (injury free) CB1, if a legit CB2 emerges from Burris/Williams/Roberts. Those are the type of things I would need to see to agree with you that a plan is coming together. Not all of them need to work out, but if we end the season feeling like we have answers in a couple of these areas, I might feel differently, but as of now, I have little confidence in Macc as the guy to oversee the build part of the rebuild. Tearing it down is easy, putting it back together is hard. All Macc has done so far is tear it down. That's all on Bowles now. And unfortunately he has Kerley playing the majority of snaps over those young guys. Just another reason why he's so fucking awful. Playing Forte over Powell and McGuire. Bowles holds this team back more then anyone. I just hope at some point this season when they're 1-6, that they turn in to full fledge evaluation mode.

Unfollowing him on twitter was such a good decision. Literally not one other insider or writer says shit like this. And it never catches on with the bigger networks because it's bullshit. What other team has guys like this?? It's unbelievable.

It's gonna be 2015 all over again. Draft at 14. But at least our offense will have been able to grow with a capable QB. That's what matters most here.

This McCown stuff is fooking weird. Are the Jets worried he would raise the play of the O to an acceptable level? He went from taking every 1st team snap to taking almost none. All very odd. Let me tell you what the plan was. Sign McCown, who is known to be a great mentor and has been told numerous times he could coach in this league, and hope he guides these young bucks. And along the way, have him start getting the first team reps so that Hack and Petty can compete to "earn" their job. Then slowly turn over to one of the two. And have one of them start the season, while McCown never plays all season. You're welcome.

Because they actually just signed him to be a smart back up while they ride Hack and Petty all season.
