ISIS may be the best thing that could of happened when it comes to war on terrorism. ISIS is the closest thing we have to a Identifiable organization with any type of uniformity not just a ideology.

Never really thought of that way. The only problem I had with "torture" techniques is not whether or not they hurt...but whether or not they are a reliable way to get accurate info.

This country doesn't deserve the people who are sworn to protect it.

This country doesn't deserve the people who are sworn to protect it. I agree. Wasn't always this way but we have become a spineless nation.

So moving to the issue at hand, I assume you live your live according to Jesus teachings. What is the appropriate way to handle our enemies? We know what Conan would say . . . Appropriate way to handle enemies depends on if they are trying to kill you. Self-preservation is a human right universally recognized - from any religious to moral perspective. If people are actively trying to kill you, all bets are off. That is why there is (and should be) a vast difference between how enemy combatants are treated and how those protected by the law (of presumed innocence) are treated.

This is a very difficult topic to discuss because there are so many variables when it comes to fighting terrorism. Kidnapping citizens of foreign countries within in their own countries that are not war zones is a slippery slope. These freelance reporters are are putting themselves in harms way for a story and/or pic in third world countries, would they run into a burning building to get the story too?

I think the big issue is if it does actually help in intelligence gathering, which was the point of it in the first place - I strongly doubt it does or did. Frankly I think if 99% of us were tortured by the methods describe in this report, we'd say just about anything to make it stop, fact or fiction. Basically I just don't think it works - and if you are using it as a means of punishment, frankly you aren't much better than a group like ISIS.
