You could be on to something . I'm the guy who thinks Eli is a better QB than Peyton even thou I know Peyton is a 1st ballot HOFer and Eli's status is up for debate . I could care less what a QBs completion percentage is, as long as his team wins the game and he had a hand in the decision . Stats are for the water cooler so fans can Monday morning QB folks who do a job they will never have the chance to do .
Maybe you forgot, but " You play to win the game", not accumulate statistics .
I get this. But, then again, it is hard to lose games when your QB is completing a bunch of passes and piling up the yards, and at the same time, it is hard to win games when your QB is Ryan Fitzpatrick. The funny thing is I think Ryan Fitzpatrick has a high completion percentage . He makes the big mistake when you need him to make the big play . Last year the defenders dropped those mistakes and gave him 2nd chances to make plays and he did for the most part . This yr, when he made a mistake, he didn't get away with it as much . Hackenberg will go 15 of 30 for 250 with 2 TDs and fans will go nuts about his completion percentage, but if we win the game I will care less . If he does that and the defense causes us to lose I won't complain about the QB .

He's going to be a 45% guy in this league. And he's going to get sacked 6 times a game. But sure if with all that the throws for 250 yards and 2 TDs and we win, who cares. Because the only way that happens if you are in a loony bin and you imagine that to happen. _

Low completion percentage and lots of sacks almost always translates to lots of TDs and lots of yards and wins. _

Ball busting is not legal or is it ? You guys may be on point about Hackenberg, but there's something about that kid . I just think he's going to put a smile on all our faces . We'll probably want to string him up more often than not, but in the end, that smile will be there .

I'm with Tinstar on Hackenberg
Yeah, he has his issues...
But the intangibles are there. The physical tools are there. The work ethic is there.
And in all honesty, he's the best option moving forward unless Petty blows our collective tits off over the last 3 games. I don't give a flying rats asshole about chasing someone like Cutler or Kaepernick or drafting a Trubisky, Watson or Kizer in the Top 10.
I say beef up the tackles along the OL, draft a monster out of the backfield like Fournette/Cook and see what the kid can do.
If he sucks ass...then we're picking Top 5 and right in the thick of the Josh Rosen sweepstakes.

I don't think Hackenberg is innately inaccurate. If you watch him on rollouts (where his feet are moving), he is actually quite accurate. His problem is feet go lazy and his accuracy suffers. When he is under center, it's not as bad of a problem because his feet have to move in order for him to drop back. Out of the shotgun, it's a complete shit show. He literally stands still sometimes in the shotgun.
I also think that some of his footwork problems are due to coaching. If you watch tape from his freshman to sophomore year, you can absolutely see a change in his footwork. Chad Pennington was interviewed this week on Petty's performance last week and Chad said something that caught my attention. He said that he wanted to see Petty's feet line up with his reads because your feet tell you when to proceed to your next read. I wish we could get Chad to work with Hackenberg.

If only he'd declared after his freshman year.
