i have to say, your optimism is breathtaking at times Is that a good thing or a bad thing . By the way, what is your opinion of C J Beathard the QB from Iowa . You weren't asking me, but I have seen more of him than anyone I assume. So here's my take, as honest as I can make it. Beathard has a lot of traits a team would die for in a 3rd-4th round developmental project. Beathard has an NFL arm. His arm isn't elite, but it's good enough to make the required NFL throws. His arm strength is probably similar to Petty's, for the sake of comparison. His short and intermediate accuracy is good, but his deep ball accuracy leaves some to be desired. He is streaky at best. When healthy, he is mobile enough to extend plays with his legs in college(scrambling for positive yardage), but probably not in the NFL. He should still be athletic enough at the NFL level to be elusive in the pocket and extend plays that way. His pocket awareness is a concern, and was downright bad for the majority of his senior year. He kept his eyes on the rush way too much at times, at and at other times, just had no feel where the pocket was. This was not nearly as big an issue his Junior year. His decision making can be poor. Iowa doesn't use the middle of the field a lot, but he still forces some throws he shouldn't. Bottom line with him, in my opinion, is that if you simply look at his stats this year, you would think he's not draft-able. However, a lot of his issues this year were due to a knee injury that really flew under the radar(extremely limited his mobility) and his receivers are among the worst group in power 5 football. Prior to this year, I really thought he'd be a third round pick and at minimum be a high level back, if not potential starter in the right system. After the way his year unfolded, I'm thinking more 4th or 5th round at best. I do think there is a small chance in the right NFL system, he could be a sleeper.
