Any recommendations for something written by Victor Davis Hanson?

You don't even want to know the faggoty fantasy books I've been reading. Since March, I've ready roughly 30,000 pages of pure fluff. Nothing of mental value. All mental masturbation. I used to read nothing but non-fiction. Turned a corner and am filling my time with mindlessness.

Not a book but a great one hour watch. Can't wait for 32's commentary on the butterbeans in their grill.

The Crimean Nexus: Putin’s War and the Clash of Civilizations www.amazon.com/Crimean-Nexus-Putins-Clash-Civilizations/dp/030021488XExcellent book - Will give you an excellent understanding of what's happening and why. It was written before (2017) the current shit, but for all intents and purposes forecasts the inevitable. I'm reading it for the second time and can't put it down. WTF are we (the US) doing there? The Ukraine is not our problem, (it's Europe's, if it's anyones). From Clinton to Bush (both) Obama and now the current pack of idiot savants are dragging us into a confrontation with the Russians.

All in on Foundation, on the second book. Asimov's Foundation series? Yea, but I gave up. Way too erudite for my tastes. I'm re-reading the Red Rising books in anticipation of the release of the last book in the series sometime this summer. I really can't believe it hasn't been developed into a series yet.

Recently finished Tunnel 29. It’s about the Berlin Wall and escaping from east Berlin. Good book.

Since I asked about Victor Davis Hanson I ended up reading "The Dying Citizen" which is his latest book. It was a great read I would recommend.

If you haven't already checked them out, look into the Mistborn series or the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. Or The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss. Rothfuss is worse than GRR Martin, though. The series is a trilogy and the second book was finished ten years ago. Still waiting on the third.

It has a very similar escalation track when compared to Game of Thrones (which I felt excelled at that). It also (so far) hasn't been particularly been bogged down by author/fan favorites being spared from adverse outcomes. Good authors understand that character development is key to reader engagement; very good authors understand it's ok to proverbially throw all that time and effort in the garbage (AKA kill the character) in the interest of the greater narrative. I'm not a huge fan of hardcore fantasy fiction (despite being a former D&D nerd). I prefer sci-fi driven stuff. This video does a good breakdown of some of the current fan faves that could be the next big thing as far as series adaptation. Ironically, her big ding on Red Rising is for its sci-fi/spacey content (which really isn't as excessive as she makes it out to be).

Iron Gold is very good, but does get ponderous at times. Dark Age is fucking brutal; possibly my favorite so far.
