Filling a G spot was more of a priority then signing a Tackle....we just signed Breno last season and Brick still has some game left...
Just find a guy to groom in the mid rounds

I'm not nearly as worried about the OL as I was heading into FA, I'll say that. We seemingly filled the LG spot with Carpenter and have a shit ton of guys, most of which have starting experience, fighting for the last two spots on the right side (Aboushi, Johnson, Freeman, Winters, Colon, Dozier, Breno, Qvale, Brewer). It helps that the right side of the line is notoriously easier to play then the left side. Fairly confident that two of those guys can at least capably win their spots and hold down the fort. I do feel a little better now. But it is still a unit "of concern" turnonthejets.com/2015/03/turn-on-the-jets-12-pack-jets-post-free-agency-strategy/Brick has been getting on respect lately. Between average and slightly above average? He's a three time pro bowler! And a black belt in karate!

James Brewer is a LT that got moved to Guard. He can probably backup both positions making him more valuable. Just an fyi.

Over the Cap now shows us with $18.77MM cap space -- still does not include Cromartie. Yesterday they had as at $17MM -- did we restructure or cut anyone that I might have missed?

Spotrac has been much more reliable this offseason IMO - OTC doesn't update nearly as often and some of the numbers lag behind. www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-jets/cap/

Thanks -- this makes more sense.

But I like OTC's number better. Thanks -- this makes more sense. Looks like OTC added Cromartie's contract to the Jets roster. They have the Jets at $12.2M in available cap space.

Looks like OTC added Cromartie's contract to the Jets roster. They have the Jets at $12.2M in available cap space. Has his contract breakdown been released? I haven't seen anything They have him with a 5M base and a 2M roster bonus this year, and 8M guaranteed in 2016. Cap numbers of 7M in 2015 and 8M in 2016. Although that doesn't add up if you believe the earlier reports of him getting 16M guaranteed. For our purposes estimating Cromartie at a 7M cap hit this year is pretty accurate.

Jason from OTC said this Thursday and hasn't posted any updates on it since...could just be guess work or maybe he got a scoop. Close enough either way

There is a discrepancy between the two caps sites (all other numbers relatively reconcile): 1) On Spotrac, Buster Skrine's Cap Hit is $4.25M. On OTC, it's $2.75M (OTC didn't add the roster bonus) 2) On Spotrac, James Carpenter's Cap Hit is $3.125M. On OTC, it's $2.375M (OTC didn't add the roster bonus) 3) On Spotrac, Willie Colon's Cap Hit is $585K. On OTC, it's $665K. (Not sure what is causing the different numbers) 4) On Spotrac, Ronald Talley's Cap Hit is $600K. On OTC, it's missing (OTC doesn't have him on their list) 5) On Spotrac, dead cap space is $3.6M. On OTC, dead cap space is $3.0M. I think OTC is not allocating roster bonuses for Carpenter and Skrine until they officially make the roster. I think Carpenter and Skrine making the roster is a forgone conclusion, so Spotrac seems more accurate at this point in my opinion. EDIT: What's funny is if you take the Top 51 contracts (or all active contracts) on either site and add them up, neither comes to the amount they're claiming it does in those respective sections. I guess that's why the cap is like funny money.

Now to make it even more confusing, ESPN comes up with a completely different number: 1) ESPN with Cro (no Vickerson, Brewer and rookies) = $13.49M 2) OTC with Cro (no Vickerson, Brewer, Talley and rookies) = $12.2M 3) Spotrac with Cro (no Vickerson, Brewer and rookies) = $9.5M ($16.5M - $7M not yet shown for Cro) 4) My own math (which means nothing) with Cro (no Vickerson, Brewer and rookies) = $11.6M Safe to say we're probably somewhere around $12M (not counting Vickerson, Brewer and the rookies). I don't trust the ESPN "research" numbers. At this point I really think OTC's numbers are right. They always have been in the past. Plus, they have the same numbers as my own calculation (which again means nothing) if they subtracted Talley's missing cap hit (~$600K). Too much staring at and calculating numbers tonight. Will look at it again with fresh eyes tomorrow.
