“Muhammad will not be attending the Jets voluntary workouts that began today. Muhammad has been engaged in a workout program with his personal trainer since February, and believes that continuing with his current program and believes that continuing with his current program will put him in the best physical shape for the 2015 season.” – Chad Weisling (Mo’s Agent) Aka chill the fuck out More like spin control. This is a reactionary comment; if they want to allay any concerns they would've led with this early in the news cycle. Pretty sure they knew the start of voluntary OTAs. As an aside, yes, they're voluntary. Which means one of the self-proclaimed leaders of the team should be setting a good example by voluntarily being there. Agreed with a new regime in place he should definitely be there .. Being a leader on defense and in the locker room . also saying your not one of those guys when your contract is done it will be done .. You will be there to workout

Wouldn't go any higher than the Atkins deal for him. Agreed. I love Mo but he's not Watt.... Mo will get Ngata money. Around $12 million per year and I think that's fair.

when your team says they're going to make giving a guy an extension - stemming all the way from Idzik, i'd be disappointed too. they gave some big money out to guys and nothing to Mo.
i said it a couple weeks ago, my stepdad works with Mo's uncle in NJ. he was told that Mo is real upset and is going to make it known.
can't play the good guy all the time, especially when he could have went today and god forbid torn an ACL or something worse.

I call dickey move on his agents part. Sounds like they're far away on numbers. New G.M. Already said they would get deal done after the draft. Possible trade bait to move up? Hmmmm

So say he shows up to "VOLUNTARY" minicamp. First day there he blows his knee out and is out for all of 2015. Do you think the Jets negotiate a new contract with him still? Probably not. But if they do then do you think they'll be offering him fair market value or will they try to use his injury as leverage to get a cheaper deal with less guaranteed money? Some of you guys think of football as a game and to us fans that's all it is. But to the players it's their career and the way they feed their family. Why as a player would you ever risk getting injured a month prior to negotiating a deal that will likely be around 6 years $75 million with $45 million guaranteed all to show solidarity? Are you guys kidding me? This is not a holdout and Mo doesn't have to show up to the Jets facility till mid June when he is required to. This is a business to him, not just a game.

And why can't people spell "Coples" correctly? He's been on the team for 3 years now.

Harrier is foreign, so that may make sense elsewheres on this planet. I kind of liked it I'd be saying "fed up to the back teeth" in Australia. On topic, I would expect that the Jets have put money aside in future years to pay both Wilkerson and Richardson, unless something drastic happens between now and when their contracts come up. Makes sense for Wilkerson to skip the voluntary workouts from his personal perspective. Players have little leverage in contract negotiations unless they're prepared to stay away from the team until such time as the team comes to the party with a contract offer that the player is prepared to accept. From Wilkerson's perspective, even if the Jets have said that a deal will be worked upon post draft, there's no guarantee of anything being done. With the Jets spending big on free agents and re-signing David Harris (and paying him a lot of guaranteed money in the process), I can understand why Wilkerson is feeling a bit put out by the Jets. This is him making it clear to the Jets that he is not happy with them at the moment.

I agree, but OTOH doesn't them paying Harris handsomely (which I'm glad they did) show that they reward loyalty? which should give the younger players some measure of confidence, Harris has been a dependable, long-term player and a leader. Not like certain CB's who shall remain nameless.

Trade him. Good player but nowhere near the God-level that some here place him. Wouldn't go any higher than the Atkins deal for him. Get the fuck outta here with that. Mo has been the anchor of this defense since Revis left he is like a queen on a chess board on this dline can play at any spot and has never been a distraction. Mo's best years are ahead of him he's just entering his prime. I do think he should be there but Jets spent $149 on a secondary highlighted by Revis & Cromartie who have probably 3-4 good years left. Bottom line PAY THE MAN!!!!! Im sorry. I have learned to root for the laundry. The players do what is best for them which is their right. I want Mo here for life but if he is gonna pull some shit then he can go. He is not JJ Watt.

Overreact much? The guy skips 1 voluntary workout and everyone wants to trade him. Just pay the dude, he has earned it. We just paid Cromartie and harris. They both got 8 million a year and they're on the wrong side of 30. Keep in mind the last time we traded away our best player, we replaced him with dee milliner. And we all know how well that worked out. There is still plenty of time to lock up wilkerson. No need to overreact and trade him for no reason. Lol and the. List every idiotic reason why. I can't fucking believe some are telling us he's not great, just good. Then thinks he knows who's better off that review. At this point Mo's better than Richardson with no guarantees Richardson passes him. Might, but no one knows this

People get so twisted when players do exactly what they are entitled to do.

Not saying you are wrong but I don't think we keep both of them (sign both to long-term deals). Assuming health and production remain, both are/will be looking for huge deals. You can easily keep both Wilkerson AND Richardson together for the next 3 years. The Jets control Richardson for the next 3 years via his rookie deal and the 5th year option. You really don't have to pick one or the other until 2018. Your're right. Especially since we aint paying a QB big money. I mean keeping them both for the next 5 to 7 years. Cornerstones like Brick and Mangold. I dont think that will be possible. But we shall see.
