NFL offseason programs start for a few teams today, and we may have our first conscientious objector of the offseason. According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, Jets defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson is skipping the opening of the team’s offseason conditioning, and “might not be around for a while.” Wilkerson’s in the final year of his rookie deal, and the Jets have been working on a contract extension which will pay Wilkerson what he’s worth. That’s going to be a pile, considering he’s emerged as one of the top 3-4 defensive ends in the game — not quite J.J. Watt, but not that far off. His fifth-year option is worth $6.9 million, but Wilkerson stands to ring the bell when the deal finally comes in. And he may not be coming in to work until it does. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/04/06/report-muhammad-wilkerson-not-showing-up-for-jets-workouts/

I understand Mo' frustration, he deserves to get paid and thus far has been a good solider.
To be honest though I'm disappointed, he's not been voted to a pro bowl and is still under contract, I'm sick to the back teeth of hearing about his contract.
This is the last thing I want to see when we have a new coach implementing a new system, Todd deserves full support of the players.
Would have been nice to get off on the right foot.

Love how Mo has said time after time he's a team guy.....The Jets have all the leverage, and the teams "leader" decides it's all about him now, and not the team. I understand everyone wanting to get paid, but don't go out and say you're all about the team like Mo has said. Pay Sheldon, let Mo play out his deal then franchise him if we have to.

I get you want to get it done but technically there's no Ned to get it done today, it's not the most pressing thing the team needs to deal with give Mo has another year under contract. Plus the Jets want to get it done, have made that clear. The baby, hissy fit, I'm staying home shit is stupid.

Dissappointing from Mo. He'd said all along that he would not hold out and would show up to this kind of stuff.

Trade him.
Good player but nowhere near the God-level that some here place him. Wouldn't go any higher than the Atkins deal for him.

Watch him now go to the Patriots and win a Super Bowl. Belidick will turn him into the next Richard Seymour.

If they can't get a deal in that range, trading him should certainly be on the table. IMO, between what Richardson brings to the table and the amount of talent in the draft with regards to OLBs (a bigger position of need) and even the possible availability of Leonard Williams, the Jets shouldn't have bend over backwards for him. He's very good, but he isn't great, but he's looking for great money, especially pulling this shit with a new coach/GM while purporting to be a team leader who wants to be here. Who's his agent?

When are you going to trade him though? Are you going to give up on contract talks in April? Otherwise compensation will not be until 2016. Wilkerson will not be traded.

I would either trade him , or let him play out his contract .. Richardson is the better player and I rather lock him up long term then mo .. Pretty sure we can't afford both or would want to put that much money into the d-line
