What will he bring to the offensive side of the ball? How will he help Geno? We've had a top 6 or 7 defense for the past 6 years, zero championships. I'm not really looking to debate Rex's D, or the merits of a top D coordinator, I just don't want us falling for the flavor of the month again. Quinn, Bowles, all the talking heads are extolling their virtues, we've been down that road way too many times as fans, it really began with booting Michaels for Walton imho and has been the one true constant of the franchise, grab the hot guy. I really don't have an alternative in mind, but none of these guys excite me, we had a great defensive coach. In all fairness, several of the top teams in the NFL right now, the guys with Byes in the playoffs next weekend, have predominately defensive HCs. But they also have very good QBs. I have ZERO problem with another HC coming from the defensive side of the football....if it's the RIGHT guy. Pete Carroll, Bill Homeless Hoodie, John Fox are all defensive guys and one of them is likely hoisting a Lombardi trophy next month. Two of those teams are playing with all time HOF QBs, the other with a young QB light years ahead of others with his experience. Seattle wins with D and mistake free QB play we all know what the Pats and Broncos win with...

Saban was a disaster with the Dolphins Why would you just automatically assume that he'd be infinitely improved upon his second go around in the pros? Thank you! I dont get the Saban love, he couldnt make it in Miami and his players hated him. Imagine how he would fair in NY His players may have hated him but I bet they respected him. I'd rather have a respected coach (see Harbaugh, James; Belicheck, William; Landry, Thomas; Shula, Donald) vs. a loved coach (see Ryan, Rex).

Would love to see Hue get an interview Ya I would rather see Hue before Cable. Agreed, he's been my number one choice since mid season. If the football gods smile upon us for once and we get DeCosta, I think it's a strong possibility. For those who want a more well rounded coach, Jackson fits that bill. He's been an assistant on all three phases of the game.

Manish: Jets will interview assistant head coach/RBs Anthony Lynn for the head coaching job.
Michael Silver @mikesilver: “@mmehtanydn: Jets will interview asst HC/RBs Anthony Lynn for head coaching job. #nyj” minority, current staff, paves way for quick strike

Word to Hitman... Hue would make the players forget about Rex rather quickly, AND he knows how to turn around an offense....plus like you said he's been a position coach at every position on offense except for TE/OL and has coached on the defensive side of the ball...DeCosta would keep supplying the ammo year in and year out. Pipedream for now however.....I would also try to pry Duke Tobin from Cincy and get him in a package deal with Hue....

Would like to see Dunbar get an interview as well. Interviewing former staff members gives you great insight as to what went wrong in the last regime. Rod Graves should get a GM interview as well....

Anyone else think the Jets are interviewing HCs/GMs at the same time, secretly? Wouldn't be surprised if both hires were announced together, possibly from Seattle.

As much as I like Saban I do not think he would fit in at jets unless he could bring Kiffin. They work well together.

Kubiak is likely a personal favor by/for Casserly. No chance he gets the job. Wont hurt to pick his brain about Geno and the offense as a whole. Bowels is definitely a legit candidate except for the fact that he is a DC. Cable is a better version of Sparano. Reich is interesting. Born on LI. I agree with you about his resume. I hope you're right. Please, no Kubiak. Total retread. That would be the perfect example of getting rid of Rex for the sake of getting rid of him, to be replaced by someone not as good.
