I knew this was a possibility when after he lost they asked him about the draft and he told them the only thing he was focusing on now was baseball season. Which if he was entering the draft he wouldn't be able to play baseball this season. So I think this is pretty believable.

Definitely hope this is the case. Don't need the temptation if he's on the board.

Definitely hope this is the case. Don't need the temptation if he's on the board. Good point, but there's also a con. I think Winston would have gone in the Top 5 and pushed someone to us. With him gone it could pull someone like Cooper earlier and cause us to miss him at 6.

The way I judge a QB is like this: Give him Peyton Foreheads speed, can he still beat you with his arm? Too many times we overvalue legs and speed and then when those QB's get in the league the first thing coaches do is tell them not to run. I want to know if the defense stifles his running ability, like they did with Kaepernick this year, can he still win games from the pocket. I think the NFL is headed back into the direction of Pocket QB's b/c too many of these mobile guys have failed. You can throw Russell Wilson at me all day but if he has the same players on offense but the Jaguars defense he wins 4-6 games a year the past 3 years, same thing with Kaepernick. I think Winston would fall as well based on his off the field issues and the fact that he was not very good this year. His mechanics were awful in his last game. I will not be shocked if he pursues a baseball career and not a football career. And I'm telling you right now, don't be shocked if Cooper is not the first WR off the board. There are 4-5 other WR's that may go in the first round. 2 others could go top 10. This WR class is deep as well.

If he really does stay at school, it would be the best move for him. An extra year is usually always a good thing. For the Jets, I think it's bad all around. If we were to take him I think we get a good prospect. If not, like others have mentioned, another team will take another good player. I think we should trade back if this were to happen

Conspiracy Theory.
What if Winston secretly intends to wait to see how teams position themselves after the draft before deciding whether to declare for the supplemental draft? It would be a shrewd move on his part. He gets to play baseball and the team that gets him would have a better chance of improving with 2 first round picks added to the roster. Plus, I think the kid is smart enough to know a star athlete in NY makes more money overall than one in Tampa or Tennessee, and the supplemental draft would gives him a chance to avoid having to be in those place because after the draft at least 1, and maybe both, will have their QB in place for 2015.

I live in Western, NY and I have watched more Bills games than most Jets fans since my wife is a die hard Bills fan. I never said I wanted him as coach. All I said was your perception of him being a weakling is very weak at best. And a "hard on" just means you're very emphatic about something, negatively or positively.

I won't be too upset if he goes back. Makes next years class more interesting and will spare our new GM the pressure of tying his fate to a qb in his first year.

So what if he does go back to school, and Mariotta's stock drops, and he falls to #6.
"Next up on the clock, the NY Jets"
What do you do? Take him?

So what if he does go back to school, and Mariotta's stock drops, and he falls to #6. "Next up on the clock, the NY Jets" What do you do? Take him? A big factor in this would be... Who is the coach? What is the offensive philosophy? But for me the answer is easy: pass. Take someone else or trade the pick. If this so-called can't miss prospect is dropping to 6, perhaps he'd be better suited dropping further to 7. Let him be someone else's regret.
