Just curious how much specific information has been made available about his background and how you know for certain he hasn't negotiated with agents, etc.? Is it because he's not been the GM? As others have said those guys aren't available if they're any good. You have to take a chance on giving someone a promotion, and it seems easier to learn contract negotiation than identifying talent and having a philosophy to building a team, and easier to delegate contract negotiatio. And maybe he has negotiated contracts anyway. link As long as they bring in someone strong with experience to work with him on the negotiation/contract/cap management issues, I'll be fine with it. But he is raw. He is green and no matter how much folks here ignore that, it IS a risk to a degree. Hiring ANY GM candidate is a risk to some degree. If we would've hired McCloughan, who knows if he releapses and starts getting hammered left and right again? If we would've hired DeCosta, who knows if Ozzie is the true brains behind the scenes and this guy has just along for the ride and his involvement with things was totally overblown. No one out there is a sure bet to turn us into a Superbowl contender. But at least Maccagnan has a longtime scouting background and seems to be blowing our tits off in the interview process.

True, no one KNOWS if these guys will be successful or not, same with these head coaching candidates. Ultimately the success of these guys will in large part be determined if they solve the QB question.

Hopefully Seattle loses to Carolina so we can officially hire Quinn and have as much time as possible to land the best OC available. Man, I really do loathe Scam Newton, but I'd gladly welcome him going full Superman on Seattle tonight. Get Mac in place tonight and make a formal offer to Quinn asap. Ain't happening fellas

Ain't happening fellas Its not that crazy to think it could happen. Carolinas Defense has been playing much better and we all know seattles offense doesn't really scare anyone. I think if they keep the game close cam could make a play or two and they COULD win. I don't think they will though..

Ain't happening fellas True, plus it's not really that big of a deal if the Jets have to wait for Seattle to be done with their playoff run to "officially" announce Quinn as their HC. I get that the fans may get antsy, but deals are made well before they can officially be announced. Hopefully the Jets announce Maccagnan as GM today or tomorrow, then next week we should start seeing some of these HC vacancies start being filled.

Very true, people are concerned about the ability to hire a great coaching staff the longer we wait to hire someone, but we could have 1,000 handshake deals in the mean time.... If Quinn wants the Jets and Woody wants Quinn they'll both wait for each other..

Exactly If the Jets want Quinn and Quinn wants the Jets, then I don't think it's crazy to think that they already have a handshake agreement in place. If we have to wait until early next month to make it official, oh well. If he's the guy that you truly covet then you wait for him.

@rapsheet 3m3 minutes ago Gary Kubiak has not interviewed yet, but from people close to him, he may not. He loves #Ravens, has friends there, isn’t looking to move
