Adam Schein is hands down the biggest tool of the NFL.com staff writers. Absolutely brutal to listen to on SNY as well. Don't care one bit what he says/thinks.

according to jets website, buster skrine is 3rd in the league over the last two seasons in passes defended He played opposite Joe Haden as the #2 CB on the Browns. Guys were constantly targeting him because they didn't want to challenge Haden. Skrine can definitely hold his own and doesn't get enough credit. He was a great signing IMO.

Per Jason at Over The Cap (I like to use him because he was the original guy to do this, is a Jets fan and was and maybe still be, a poster here) $26 million in space left - with Revis, Marshall, Harris, & Fitz) Still missing Skrine (gonna have to learn how to spell that) and Carpenter. We still have plenty of room left to play around. overthecap.com/salary-cap-spaceoverthecap.com/salary-cap/new-york-jets/I was wondering if Jason still posted here. He was great at this stuff. I hope he chimes in. But yes, the numbers are the same as my original post. Current Cap is $25.9M before the draft ($6M), Carpenter ($4M - $5M est.) and Skrine ($4 - $6.25M est.) cap hits $25.9M - $6M - ($4M to $5M) - ($4M to $6.25M) = Anywhere from $8.65M - $11.9M given Carpenter and Skrine estimates (Could have a little more if Skrine and Carpenter account for less than $4M each, but that's unlikely)

Well that didn't take long. People were saying how hard it was going to be to spend as much as we had to. I guess not with Revis on the books, LOL $16M out of $58M. He took up roughly 27.5% of the available cap. That moved things along quickly.

Translation: Damn it, not even Chip Kelly would take him and his bloated contract so we're stuck with him.

I definitely think it was money well spent. Addressed several issues facing this team. Allows us to go BPA in the draft and like you said allows us to re-sign our guys with next years cap. I say sign Cro and Gilchrist and maybe a blocking TE or backup OL and call it a very successful FA.Agreed. Do any of the available free agent TE's stick out to you? Of the guys that are left, I kind of like Bear Pascoe. 29. Size and strength of a good run blocker as well as decent pass catching abilities. Not quick or graceful, but the guy plays hard and drives through people on blocks.

So the money counted against the cap to sign Mo would be the difference of what he mkes no and his new dollar figure right? I'm not sure about this. I think it depends on the way the contract is structured/restructured. I think the best answer is it depends.

How can the Jets afford Gildchrist and Cromartie then? Both are likely $5-$7 mil a year players and it sounds like we are about to land them. Just because they'll get $5M - $7M each, doesn't mean that's their cap hit. It all depends on how the contract is structured. Also, we can still make additional cuts.

The only thing that scares me about Beasly is the ghost of Gholston. Beasly got up to 246 and beasted at the combine. Reminds me of Gholston. Hoping he's not just a workout warrior. I like him though and would be happy if the Jets landed him. Just because Beasley had a great combine doesn't mean he is the next Vernon Gholston. Gholston had one year of production at OSU. Beasley had 8 sacks in 7 games in 2012, 13 sacks in 2013 and 12 sacks in 2014. Very different personalities and motors. I definitely agree with you. I'm just saying drafting him makes me think of Gholston. I'd say that uneasy feeling is justified given a lot of our draft history. Would be uneasy with any pick really because you never know. Like I said though, would definitely be happy with Beasly as the pick and I do think he's different than Gholston.

That article says it doesn't include Powell, Carpenter or Skrine. It also doesn't include Fitzpatrick or the draft either. The numbers in my original post are up to date (except Carpenter and Skrine who's cap hits are unknown and estimated) and factors in the draft.

@ 6? Fowler or Beasly IMO sign the BEASTLY! The only thing that scares me about Beasly is the ghost of Gholston. Beasly got up to 246 and beasted at the combine. Reminds me of Gholston. Hoping he's not just a workout warrior. I like him though and would be happy if the Jets landed him.

We spent a lot of money, but we had to. I read somewhere next year we should have around 35-40 million to sign the likes of Sheldon, Demario, and Wilk and if don't sign him this season. I could see Harrison leaving but I would really want to resign him as well. I definitely think it was money well spent. Addressed several issues facing this team. Allows us to go BPA in the draft and like you said allows us to re-sign our guys with next years cap. gilchrist would be FS. they must really not like this DB draft class. i dont blame them. im loving our new secondary. its just oozing of potential, with an obviously, tremendously proven piece to mentor. An uber aggressive rush OLB would make this a scary D. Which one of the college guys is the most ferocious? @ 6? Fowler or Beasly IMO
