This is what the Jets do....they swing the pendulum back and forth! Herm was too much of a rah rah, cheerleader type who had BBQs....Let's bring in Eric Mangini, the tight ass of all tight asses, a total disciplinarian.....But wait, he's too uptight and players hate him....Enter Rex Ryan, we're gonna punch New England in the face and go to the Super Bowl every year, get out of our way you slapdicks!......Whoa....Wait a minute, the team is now too loose and undisciplined, their uniforms should be yellow like all the penalty flags thrown at them.....Bye Rex! Hello Todd Bowles, the quiet, understated leader that will hold players accountable and keep everyone on an even keel....But wait, now they don't have any fire....how come nobody wants to punch anybody in the mouth no more? How come they're playing two hand touch instead of tackle football? Where is the fire and confidence? Ugh! Hello Steve Mariucci??? FML. when did the jets ever have an really strong on field leader besides namath(maybe). give bowles some time to get his team's attitude adjusted. it was plenty obvious that this teamjust didn't want to win as much as the raiders did. how did they ever get the idea the raiders were simply going to lose is betond me. if that were the case, the patsies wouldn't have to play a game. a lot has been said about how pryor missing was a key but just about every team , by now, has had to replace a starter or two and things just keep moving along. that's just the way it is. and i certainly would've thought that having geno as a back up would be a plus. and it almost was. he didn't hang 4 td's on the defense. heck he didn't even throw a pick six though he tried). the bottom line is winning begets winning. once the team gets a good taste they don't want to go back to their losing ways. here's to hoping they play a statement game in jax.

I'm starting to doubt the worth of these vaunted Harvard credentials. On one of the sports talk shows the host had a producer (or something) who had graduated from Harvard a few years ago, and he didn't know what the Zapruder film was, thought JFK was shot by someone on the grassy knoll, and didn't know if JFK was married and the name Jackie KENNEDY Onassis wasn't enough of a clue Don't forget, George W. Bush has an MBA from Harvard.. don't forget john f kerry went to harvard and obozo was the editor of the harvard law(less) review. your point?

a couple of points if i may. first off any team can be beaten by good qb play. and by this i mean getting open receivers, throwing quickly and decisively to those open receivers. carr was able to get rid of the ball quickly and that's one of the main keys to negating a pass rush. brady has shown what quick passing can do. wait too long for a receiver to get open or try to go too deep and it's going to put lots of pressure on the oline. secondly, the raiders, thanks to the patsies, probably found a weakness in how the jet dline rushes the passer. the patsies always seem to get the dline guys to the ground. it's probably borderline holding on every play. but considering how much the jets have investd in the dline, they need to do a lot better. thirdly, the loss of fitz can't be underestimated. the jets were moving the ball when he went out. geno sort of finished but didn't do a thing in the first half. had they matched the raider first half scoring they might have put enough pressure on the raiders to make bad decisions. in the second half the offense and defense played better and the raiders were making mistakes. the hole was far too deep to dig out of though.
the bottom line is they got beat and they beat themselves. they need to beat jacksonville decisively to right this team.

I'm not sure this is a take away, but I'm very curious how Bowels responds next week. Real bad week for him. Team was flat as a board. Decision to play Williams at Safety backfired and he continued to give run to Coples and Davis who continually make mistake after mistake. Game management was also poor. Rookue coaches will make mistakes. Good ones learn from them. Next week we will see what Bowles learned. I would not be surprised if they thump Jacksonville. i think next week's game has to be a major statement game. nothing short of an outright win will right this team. considering that geno will probably start what are those odds? geno looked good at times but didn't make good decisions when it mattered.

Defense got exposed big time. I put 25% of this loss on the o and 75% on the defense. No pressure, Zero, We have no pass rush to speak of even when blitzing. Coverage was week on man coverage. Revis got burned, Cro got burned, Gilchrist got burned, Lb's got burned. over 100 yards rushing in 3 quarters. Unreal performance from a team I expect veteran leadership from. I cannot even talk shit on Geno. He came in and did what Geno does. 3 and 7, lets take a sack when their is plenty of time to throw it away. Let this put to rest all the Geno fans that the dude is a detriment to the team. Zero run game to speak of. O-line blocking was non existent. What a shit fucking game. Fuck everything. imo it's all about desire and the defense just came out very flat. too much poor tackling and no pressure on carr. what can you say about the offense? losing fitz didn't help. geno came in and did well for a time but then just wasn't smart about clock management and knowing when to throw the ball away. too many key penalties when it mattered.

wasted my afternoon watching the thing. the worst thing this or any team can do is come out and not play fundamentally good football. there way too much poor tackling and carr didn't have any pressure all afternoon. the jets adjusted a little at the half but it was too little too late.
fitz's injury looks like it's going to keep him out a few games. can geno step up and win? imo he looked okay for much of the game but had some issues at the end. and he got hit pretty hard when he was speared at the end. nice of the refs to no make a call. they're 4-3 and really have to win the next 3 to get on track.

Hey look at the bright side. Petty may get some snaps today. can he do worse than geno at this point? but in reality, the defense needs to make a frigging stop.

the patsies are cheaters. it's going to take them many years to wash the stink off. and it looks like just when they paid the price for taping the other team's practices and signals they do something stupid like play with deflated footballs. imo the average fan doesn't care because they don't realize how much a football's pressure can effect its ability to be throw or caught or carried. and the same goes for stealing signals. and in my opinion the patsies didn't use their knowledge of signals in every game or for every play. they waited and used them sparingly so a game changing sack here or pick their wouldn't look like more than just a smart play

No it's not and that's not a stopgap. That's some shit you do if you wanna try to win a super bowl. Fuck "stop gap" sick of cliches with this Damn team. You'll see eventually when you get a little older/vet. That's what happened to McGinley he couldn't take it and lost his mind. Being a jet fan is not for everyone Having said that, Fuck these guys and Fuck the jets. They are pissing me off. And Fuck the horrible marketing and pr dept we have. Assholes. They should have been shit canned with idzik. They are the fuckin bradways of marketing. Kelly fuckin green and no jet helmet. Just watch it's gonna look like Santa's elves took a steamy shit all over the field. Have you seen a Saints game this year? Brees arm looks shot, why the fuck would you pony up some high picks for him? This team needs a guy to be our QB for the next decade. I'm gonna watch my mouth here because I'm not sure if you've had your meds and enough sleep today I'm 32 years old and served in in 2 wars so I'm pretty sure bein a jet fan won't kill me, good job you wasn't sayin that to me in person. honestly i haven't been following the saints at all. brees has proven to be a pretty darn good qb at sd and no. if he's got 3-4 good seasons left, maybe you package coples, wilk and trade for him. this saves the effort of seeing both of those guys go in free agency and while losing wilk would be huge they have williams who can take up much of the slack. i agree the jets need a guy they can count on for the 5 or so seasons. the question is: is that guy on the roster now? if not then next year? every year this progresses means that the strength of this current team is being wasted on seasons that will lead to the playoffs but not much more. and i'm one of the few that think they'll finish 12-4. the thing is there's still that huge speed bump in new england that has to be crossed. they're close but if you're not first you're last.

I will say one thing - this game gives me a new perspective on how close the jets played the pats last week. If the pats keep up this domination, the jets play last week will stand out as a really special effort. And, we'll get them next time (and the time after that!) and the refs actually called some holds and clips on the cheaters. imagine if the jets got the same calls on sunday? but what this game also points out is that teams need to stop letting the patsies play on short fields while the opponent plays on a long one. where was the pasie start point for all of their drives? about the 50? where did the doltfins start? barely the 20 and many times from the 10.

no doubt losing pryor and having ivory at half speed hurt. but you simply can't make the injury excuse and expect to be a top team. here's to hoping they'll be back next week. This. Three Fifths of the Pats O-line was newbies and, they did OK. This is the NFL. Guys get injured. Next man up. IMO, the loss was related to two factors. First, the inability to consistently pressure Brady. Second, The lack of any threat that the Jets would throw downfield. The Pats D had to defend less ground because Fitz can not throw deep. And I'm not just talking about bombs to WRs on Fly patterns. Watch other NFL teams play. There are always a handful of deep crossing patterns and 30 yard post where the QB throws a laser beam ball. The Jets do not have access to several chapters of the playbook because the QB simply can not make the throws. This is the simple ugly truth about Fitz. Great guy, very smart, and a less than average NFL arm. i agree that the pressure and the jets' inability to consistently go deep are major factors but imo the greatest was allowing brady to play on short fields. the first score was because of a fumble on the 20 and weatherford wasn't punting very well. and when he did have a decent pump the jet coverage would let the patsie return guy get 10 so yards every time.they had a return. i'm not sure but i don't think the patsies started maybe thrice from their 20 and that was only because of kick offs on jet scores.

i think i can go either way. it would be nice to see the doltfins beat the patsies but that would also put the dolts one game behind the jets and in position to beat them out at some point. maybe it's better to see the doltfins once and for all this season.

get on top early, no turnovers, make the raiders play on a long field by good punting and coverage.
